Ida Mae "Maw" Hitson

Ida Mae “Maw” Hitson, 94, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 at her residence. She was retired from Cleveland State Community College and was of the Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Calvin “Boss” Smith and Mary K. Floyd Smith; daughter, Brenda Hitson; brother, L. A. Smith; and sisters, Clarice Bonine and Ruth Brannon.

Survivors include her daughter, Rena Bell and husband, Ed of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Rocky Hitson and wife, Marie, LeBron Hitson and wife, Sarah and Karey Hitson, all of Cleveland; three great grandchildren, Angelina, Alex and Samantha Hitson; two brothers, Caroll “Red” Smith and wife, Sue and Harold Smith and wife, Maybelle, all of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2019 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home.  Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday in Laurel Hill-Lebanon Cemetery with Rocky Hitson, Sammy Brown, Andrew Frazier, Roger Smith, Jr., Ricky Hannah, David Rymer and Jeremy Randolph serving as pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
