Luther "Luke" Dean Powers

Luther “Luke” Dean Powers, 57, of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 at a Chattanooga hospital.  He was born August 28, 1961 to the late Sammie and Geraldine Branam Powers.  Luke was employed by Mohawk Carpets for 38 years.  He was of the Baptist faith.  He was a loving husband and dad.  Luke loved people and had a heart big enough for the whole world.  He was always willing to lend a hand to others. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, C.M. Powers and Danny Powers; grandparents, William and Melissa “Malissie” Clark Powers , Charles and Earma Early Armstrong and Willie Branam; nieces, Kenna Cofer Ledford; nephew, Chris Powers; father-in-law, Larry Bacon; several aunts and uncles; two great nephews; and two special people, Betty Lewis and Bonnie Lewis.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Sue Powers; son, John Lucas Powers; daughter, Emily LeOna Powers; brothers, Billy Powers, Sam (Robin) Powers and Terry (Donna) Powers; sisters, Debbie (Kenny) Cofer, Louise (Dennis) Holder, Delilah (Randall) Bain and Brenda (Jim) Ledford; mother-in-law, Sue Bacon; brothers-in-law, Dale (Linda) Bacon, Joe (Donna) Bacon and Franklin (Charlotte) Bacon; and several uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2019 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Ledford and Pastor Toby Brogden officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Bethel Cemetery with Keith Ledford, Phillip Hughes, Greg Hoog, Dale Bacon, Franklin Bacon and Todd Hughes serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Bacon and Dennis Holder.  

His family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
