Reverend Charles Edward Henderson, 82, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019. He was a veteran of the United States Army and also was the department head of Inhalation Therapy at Bradley Memorial Hospital. After leaving there he started an electrical business, Ed’s Service Center. Ed finished his career as an industrial electrician in Georgia.
Ed was the founding pastor of Fourth Street Community Church. As a minister of the gospel for 57 years he served as both pastor and evangelist in Georgia, Tennessee, Florida and Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Ernest Henderson and Leta Green Henderson; and siblings, William E. Henderson, Clifton Henderson, Elmer Henderson, Ruby Mealer and Evelyn Casson.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mattie Harris Henderson of Cleveland; children, Mark Henderson and wife, Angie, Robin Otts, Philip Henderson and wife, Beth and Misty McCall and husband, Stephen, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Cody Henderson, Jamie Henderson, Jessie Henderson, Jacob McCall, Mckenna McCall, Reed McCall and Gage McCall; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Philip Henderson, the Reverend Blake Fowler and the Reverend Lee Truelove officiating. Interment will follow in Moores Chapel Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
