Ruth Shadden

August 8, 1921 — January 27, 2019

Ruth Shadden, 97, of Birchwood, died, Sunday, January 27, 2019 at a Chattanooga health care facility.  She was of Baptist faith. Ruth enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She was known as Momma Ruth to everyone and loved to cook and bake.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Shadden; parents, Ernest and Dolly Hixson Bettis and brother, Howard Bettis.

She is survived by her four children, Stanley Shadden and wife, Sharon of Niota, Elaine Shadden of Birchwood, Beverly Shadden of Nashville and Brenda Shadden of Newport; one sister, Linnell Elkins of Athens and niece Connie Brookshire, of Rossville, GA and nephew Earl Colbaugh; special friends, Helen and Russell Dring and non-blood daughter, Judy Austin.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Stanley Hammond officiating   Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Eric Stearns, Brian Stearns, Ian Stearns, Paul Brookshire, Scott Lowe and Randy Dalton serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Lowry Ratcliff, Russell Dring, Dennis Stafford, Ronald Colbaugh, Mike Reeves and Tom Husband.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
