Myrtle E. Ownby

Myrtle E. Ownby, 88, of Cleveland passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at her home. She was a member of North Cleveland Baptist Church. Through many family tragedies, she held a strong faith in God and was the anchor of the family. Her life was spent giving and sacrificing for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ethel Brackin Ownby; two sons, Darryl Ownby and Pernell Ownby; grandsons, Forrest Carroll, Joshua Ownby, and Jacob Ownby; brothers, Sherrell Ownby and Dowe Ownby; sister, Diciephine Ownby and husband James Ownby; and son-in-law, Larry Carroll.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Ray Ownby of Cleveland; daughter, Diane Carroll of Johnson City; two brothers, Adrian Ownby and wife Diane and Charles Richard Ownby all of Cleveland; sisters-in-law, Mary Selma Ownby of Knoxville and Judy Ownby of Cleveland; granddaughter, Brandi Ownby Cripe; grandsons, Kirby Ownby and Noel Carroll; six great grandchildren; grand daughter-in-law, Alex Ownby; two daughters-in-law, Gail Ownby Rutledge and Cheryl Ownby.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Noel Carroll, Kirby Ownby, John Ownby, Billy Ownby, Jeff Ownby and Joel Cox serving as pallbearers.

Her family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
