Betty Miller Bowman

Betty Miller Bowman, 89, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 in a local healthcare facility.  She was lifetime member of Candies Creek Baptist Church. 

She was a retired corporate secretary and bookkeeper with NCR Corporation in Chattanooga for 16 years and Coppinger Color Lab in Cleveland for 7 years.

She was the daughter of the late M Z Miller and Pearl Melton Miller.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Bud” Bowman; step mother, Ollie Millaway Miller; sister, Martha “Teen” Hooper; brothers-in-law, David Hooper, Darrell Hooper and Duncan Gibson; niece, Gwendolyn Gibson and dearest friend, William A. (Bill) Hatcher.

She is survived by her beloved son, Robert M. (Bob) Fortney of Cleveland; sisters, Judy Hooper of Cleveland, Carolyn Gibson of St. Paul, MN and brother, Douglas Miller (Mary Lou) of Charleston; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2017 in the chapel of Fike Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Hugh Brian officiating.  Interment will follow in Candies Creek Cemetery with Rick Hooper, Mark Hooper, Barry Hooper, Dale Hooper, Aon Miller and Tyler Hooper serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
