Harold Edward Ballard, Sr., 86, of Cleveland, peacefully passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 at his residence with his wife and son by his side. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in Germany. He was a well known business man and was owner/operator of Ballard Auto Parts until his retirement in 1998. It is now owned by his son. Harold was a member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge #134 for over 50 years and was a Scottish Rite and Noble Shriner. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Everett Ballard and Alma Suits Ballard; and brother, Gilbert “Dib” Ballard. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Betty Ownbey Ballard of Cleveland; son, Harold “Eddie” Ballard, Jr. and wife, Mary of Cleveland; two sisters, Peggy Higgins and Nancy Ballard Huff, both of Cleveland; brother, Everett “Snooks” Ballard of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews. The service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Ted Smith and the Reverend Steve Wolgamott officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Kenny Higgins, Jeff Huff, Jimmy Huff, Elvis Ballard, Chris Ballard, Eric Ballard and Kevin Williams serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Retired Tennessee Highway Patrolmen, Ed Allison, Jim Freytag, Paul Johnson, Lowery Sandidge, David Glass and special friend, Alphus Ledford.
