Janet Sue Caruth

Janet Sue Caruth, 70, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017.  She received her MA degree in Library Science at Northern Illinois University in August 1973.  She retired from Cleveland State Community College where she was the librarian for 36 years, (1974-2010).  Janet was dedicated to the library and students at Cleveland State.  She was an active member of the Chattanooga Library Association and the Friends of the Library Association for the Cleveland/Bradley County Public Library.  Janet was a district manager for the Sierra Club.  She was a fan of science fiction and science fiction conventions.  Janet also loved to attend figure skating events. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, David Charles Caruth and Amelia Jane Olson Caruth; brother, James Ronald Caruth; and special friend, Pat Bishop.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Linda Voss Caruth; niece, Michelle Caruth Cederquist; nephew, David Charles Caruth; aunt, Joyce Olson Applegate and husband, Richard; uncle, Wallace Caruth; several cousins; and special friends, Helen Darcey, Tola Garner and Gay Greene.

A gathering of friends will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home.  A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel and will be conducted by the Reverend Debbie Stokes.
