Ed Hammontree

November 26, 1929 — July 26, 2017

Howard E. “Ed” Hammontree, 87, of Cleveland passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in a local hospital.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  Ed retired from Jones Printing Company in Chattanooga.  He also served as a deputy sheriff in Georgia.  He was a member of Cloverleaf Baptist church.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Starlin and Irene Gray Hammontree; brothers, Alvish Hammontree and John Hammontree; sister, Herlene Withrow; and stepson, Mark Crabtree.

Survivors include his wife, Winell Hammontree of Tennessee; sons, Mike Hammontree and wife, Shonda and Randy Hammontree and wife, Lynn, all of Georgia; stepchildren, Roy Crabtree and wife, Lynn and Diane Sewell, all of Tennessee; brothers, Rayford Hammontree and Junior Hammontree, both of Georgia; sister, Evelyn Cochran of Georgia; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.

The service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2017 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Johnny Moore officiating.  Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with military honors.

His family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
