Sarah Lou Hinkle Miller, 83, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born on December 22, 1932 and graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1950.
She professed her faith in the Lord in 1944 and was baptized in Bigsby Creek by the Reverend W. O. Green, pastor of White Oak Baptist Church. Sarah was a longtime member of Clingan Ridge Baptist Church for over 52 years and was a member of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class and the XYZ’s Senior Adults.
Sarah retired from Cutler Hammer (Eaton Electrical). She was a very strong woman and overcame many challenges in her life including being a 32-year cancer survivor. She was devoted to her family and her children rise up and call her blessed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil L. Miller; parents, Walter and Fannie Blackburn Hinkle; sister, Hazel Rollins; and brothers, Walter Hinkle, Jr. and Ernest Hinkle.
Survivors include her son, Gary L. Miller and wife, Sharee of Chattanooga; daughter, Janice Miller Baker and husband, Jerry of Cleveland; grandchildren, Sara Cross, Matthew Baker, Rachel Miller and Cara Baker; great granddaughter, Daisy Cross; several nieces and nephews; and faithful friends, Yvonne Cox and Shirley Griffin.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Sammy Hooker officiating. Music will be provided by special friends, The Neeley Family. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Matthew Baker, Jimmy Cross, Steve Ellis, Beryl Miller, Dennis Miller and Terry Miller serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Clingan Ridge Baptist Church. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
Her family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
