Doris Barkley Schlegel

Doris E. Barkley Schlegel, 92, of New Port Richey, FL, and formerly of Cleveland, quietly passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Life Care Center in New Port Richey, FL. She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile and southern charm. Doris was born May 14, 1923 to the late Knoxie and Essie Ellis. She grew up in Rocky Mount, NC until she met and married Henry Barkley. They settled in Cleveland, TN until Henry's death in 1990. She was a member at Broad Street United Methodist Church for 52 years. Doris later married William Schlegel and they settled in New Port Richey, FL. Doris will be dearly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Barkley; her second husband, William Schlegel; and her three sisters, Shirley Maxwell, Marian Rivenbark and Carolyn Foster. She is survived by her goddaughter/niece, Judy Blais; stepson, Wayne Schlegel and wife, Leslie; step-granddaughter, Korena; and many nieces and nephews. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Randy Martin officiating. The interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
