William "Bill" Ledford

William "Bill" Ledford, 79, of Cleveland, passed away after an extensive illness on Monday June 22, 2015, at a local health care facility. Ledford was a lifetime member of Center Point Baptist Church of Charleston, TN, which his parents help establish. Commissioner Ledford retired from the Bradley County Commission in 2014 where he had served the citizens of Bradley County and the 5th district for 42 years. Ledford served as Commission Chairman for many years and as a member of the Bradley Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees. Bill "Red" Ledford is a member of the Bradley County Sports Hall of Fame, which was highlighted by his 1954 spring training with the New York Giants. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.L. Ledford Sr. and Myrtle Ledford. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Shirley Ann Ledford of Cleveland; three children: Sharon Ledford of Mesa Verde, Colorado, Teresa and Chris Rollins of Cartersville, Georgia and Alan Ledford of Cleveland; one brother and one sister, Donald H. Ledford and Betty J. McDaniel, both of Cleveland; five grandchildren, Keri Ledford, Nathan Ledford, Tara Rollins, Trey Rollins and Hayley Rollins; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Kenneth Gardner, Mayor Tom Rowland and Steve Hartline officiating. Interment will follow in Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery with Mayor Gary Davis, Louie Alford, Dr. Lindsay Hathcock, Mark Hall, Dan Gilley and Jim Whitlock serving as pallbearers. Current and former commissioners will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
