Myrtle Kathleen Duggan

Myrtle Kathleen Duggan, 92, of Charleston passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015 at her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston. She taught VBS and children's Sunday school for many years. She had a heart for missions and was a member of the Women on Mission in her church. She was born February 2, 1923 to the late Will and Sarah Ella Robinson in Ashe County, NC. She later married Herman Duggan October 25, 1940. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Earl Duggan; son, Doug Duggan; infant children, Nancy and Mark; parents, Will and Sarah Ella Robinson; son-in-law, Houston "Cotton" Shamblin; sisters: Sue, Jean, Nell and Edna; brothers, Bill and Jim. Survivors include her daughters: Phyllis Shamblin, Kathy Duggan, Janet Newport (Larry), and Robin Blankenship (Steve); sons: David Duggan (Gayle), John Duggan (Deborah) and Larry Duggan (Mary Ann "Tootie"); daughter-in-law, Ann Duggan; grandchildren: Barbie Davis (Lynn), Joy Gaston (Mark), Laura Reynolds (Wayne), Sherry Maxfield (Tracy), Stacey Duggan (Lori), Penny Howell (Chip), Kevin Duggan (Teri Lynn), Johnny Duggan (Kellie), Jason Duggan, Jacob Duggan, Joseph Duggan, Julie Melton (Josh), Jay Newport (Lori), Steven Blankenship (Ashlee), Greg Blankenship (Erin) and David Blankenship (Amanda); great-grandchildren: Jennifer Cross (Greg), Valarie Reynolds, Alicia Sloan (Matt), Justin Reynolds, Jessica Russell (Matt), Bruce Gaston, Brandon, BayLeigh, and Alex Bryant, Chloe, Summer, Cody, and Ryann Duggan, Haley Cain (Mitchell), Rebecca Donegon (Brad), Megan, Nick, and Briana Howell, Tyler and Allie Davis, Keller and Callie Melton, Hunter and Jackie Newport, Tucker Powell, Hayden, Easton and Will Blankenship, Hagan Littrell, and Peyton Duggan; great-great grandchildren: Warren Cross, Madison Perry, Taylor and Elizabeth Sloan, Savannah Gaston, Shelby, Zain, Gage, and Rylee Russell; sisters, Mary Baker and Margaret Chambers; brothers, Ron, Don and John Robinson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and special friend and caregiver, Chrissy Smith. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Harrill Millsaps officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Grandsons serving as pallbearers. Great- Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the funeral home.
