Doris V. Hughes

Doris V. Hughes, 83, of Cleveland passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at a local nursing home. She was born November 10, 1931 in Edenton, NC. She was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church in Edenton, NC. She loved flowers and gardening. She was a devoted wife of 54 years before her husband passed away. Doris was known for her laugh and spur of the moment singing and dancing. She was a hard worker and most of all a Great Mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Hughes; parents, J.D. and Agnes Harrell; and daughter-in-law, Janice Hughes. She is survived by her four children: Jimmy Hughes and wife Donna, Ricky Hughes, Danny Hughes and wife Tammy, and Karen Wooden and husband Danny; grandchildren: Chad Hughes, Shawn Hughes, Lindsey Maes and husband, Jesse, Kevin Hughes, Mathew Hughes, Nichole Wilson and husband Eric, Sarah Reszczyk and husband Derek, Rob Wooden and wife Maegan and Ryan Wooden; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Ethel Harrell; brother, Melvin Harrell and wife Lavern; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Dr. Phil Griffin officiating. Her family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at Fike Funeral Home.
