Shirley Mae Foster, 75, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013. She was a member of Union Grove Church of Christ since 1954. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, James "J. D." Foster; parents, Leonard and Eva Verner; brothers, Bobby Verner, Jimmy Verner and Billy Verner; sister, Elgin Johnson; father and mother-in-law, Arlie and Jessie Lee Foster; and brothers-in-law, Alvin Lee Foster and Jim Smith. . Survivors include her children, D. J. Foster and wife, April and Athena Gilbert and husband, Roger, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Dr. Nathan Gilbert and wife, Amy of Knoxville, Jeremy Gilbert and wife, Erika of Murfreesboro and Kevin Gilbert, Madyson Foster and Adam Foster, all of Cleveland; 5 great grandchildren, Leighanna, Lillian, Andrew and Maxton Gilbert, all of Knoxville and Allison Gilbert of Murfreesboro; devoted sister, Peggy Morrow of Cleveland; sisters-in-law, Rhoda Smith and Frances Foster, both of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; and close friend, Barbara Herron of Cleveland. The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Minister Steve Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Adam Foster, Jeremy Gilbert, Nathan Gilbert, Kevin Gilbert, Michael Lawson and Randy Elliott serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
