Clifford "Tip" Lawson, 87, a resident of Georgetown, passed away Wednesday, July, 13, 2011 at a local hospital. He retired from T.V.A. and was a member of Burdette Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Robbie Dean Marshall Lawson; parents, Jack Lawson and Sally Turner Lawson; step-mother, Mary Myers Lawson; 5 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by his 4 children, Clifford Alan Lawson and wife, Vicki, of Cleveland, Brenda McKenzie and husband, Robert, of Decatur, Gary Lawson and wife, Jamie of Georgetown, and Tammy Puckett and husband, Samson of Cleveland; 9 grandchildren, Brandie Lawson, Danielle Clemmer, Summer Clemmer, Isaac Melton, Amanda Johnson, Angie Bacon, Jeremy McKenzie, Sharanda Ballew and Joel Lawson; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sylvia Barber of Dayton and Ethel Coffman of Decatur; and 1brother, Arthur Lee Lawson of Ooltewah ; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with, the Reverend Richard Watson and the Reverend Charles Poteat officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 in Neeley Family Cemetery with the Reverend Norman Huskey officiating. Jeremy McKenzie, Eric Bacon, Isaac Melton, Dean Green, R.T. Melton and Jamie Hickman will serve as pallbearers. Military Honors and a white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
