Willie Mae Womack

August 20, 1928 — October 16, 2006

Willie Mae Womack, age 78, passed away Monday, October 16, 2006 in a local hospital. Mrs. Womack was a member of Burdette Baptist Church. She was an assistant teacher in Meigs County Head Start Program for 17 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Howard and Cecil Ellen Stokes Howard; her husband, Jess Clarence Womack and daughter, Virginia Lee Hogan.

She is survived by two sons; Wayne Womack and wife, Retha, Scott Womack and wife, Lynn of Birchwood; son-in-law, Eddie Hogan of Decatur; three daughters: Jean Prentice and husband, Bobby, Sue Pendergrass and husband, Ronald all of Decatur and Amanda Scoggins and husband, Tommy of Birchwood; two sisters: Christina Thompson and Lizie Couey; eight brothers: John Howard, James Edward Howard, Donald J. Howard, Ira Howard, Roscoe Howard, Jessie Ray Howard, Franklin Howard and William Howard; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor David Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Beta Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony.
