Sgt. David Thomas Weir, 23, a life long resident of Cleveland, died September 14, 2006 in Iraq while serving his country. He was a member of the Waterville Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School where he played football as number 24. His favorite sport was football and also enjoyed camping and the outdoors. He was a history buff and studied all of the wars and knew the times and dates of every war. Sgt. Weir was preceded in death by his grandfather, Earl Thomas Weir.
He is survived by his wife, Alison Weir of Cleveland; one son, Gavin Weir of Cleveland; parents: Charles "Lynn" and Jackie Weir of Cleveland; three brothers and spouses: Chris and Candace Weir, Jeff and Tyra Weir and Tim Weir all of Cleveland; one sister and spouse: Missie and Rocky Burgraff of Winchester, TN; grandmother, Beulah Weir of Cleveland.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Reverend Roger Hobbs officiating. Interment will be held in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
His family will receive friends 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
