George Suits

George Suits, 83, a resident of Cleveland, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2008 in a local healthcare facility with family by his bedside.

He attended North Cleveland Baptist Church and was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Bradley County Farm Bureau and a former member of the North Lee Ruritan Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force. After returning from military service, he worked on the farm for five or six years. He loved to grow tomatoes and always had some to share with friends and neighbors. Most of his life was spent in the retail clothing business. Mr. Suits was with Miller's Department Store on Ocoee Street in 1953, later he joined the staff of Hardwick's Retail Store. In 1965, he was named manager and was with Hardwick's until his retirement. After retiring he worked on the family farm.

He was the son of the late John O. and Amelia May Knittle Suits. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Dennis, Doyle and Virgil Suits; two sisters: Nellie Snyder and Mattie Mae Kinchen.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ann Moore Suits; son, Jerry Suits and two special granddaughters he loved very much, Brittany Suits and Alysha Suits and their mother, Jacqui. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with the white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Nephews, Reggie Suits, Brian Suits, John Kinchen, Kin Kinchen, Jack Moore, John Moore, Tommy Haun and Danny Logan will serve as pallbearers. Glenn Mason's Bible Class and T.J. Cawood will serve as honorary pallbearers.

His family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
