Charles "Charlie" R. Ownby

Charles “Charlie” R. Ownby, 90, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at a local healthcare facility.  He was born March 11, 1931 in Bradley County.  Charles was a longtime member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church.  He was retired from Bowater Southern Paper Corporation.  Charles was a veteran of the United States Army and was proud to be in the last division of the Army’s Mule Pack Division.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ethel Brackin Ownby; sisters, Diciephine Ownby and Myrtle Ownby; and brothers, Sherrell Ownby and Dowe Ownby.

Survivors include his brother, Adrian Ownby and wife, Diane of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Judy Ownby; and one niece and several nephews.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Wallin officiating.  Interment will follow in Cedar Springs Cemetery.

His family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Michigan Avenue Baptist Church, 2741 Benton Pike NE, Cleveland TN 37323.
