John Reecie Morrow, 94, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021. John was born December 28, 1926 to the late Jess and Muncie Morrow. John was a lifelong resident of Cleveland. He served in World War II, stationed in the Philippines and later retired from Olin Chemical Co. John was a faithful member of North Cleveland Baptist Church for over 80 years where he served as deacon, choir member, and youth worker.
In addition to his father and mother, John was preceded in death by 12 siblings.
John is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Mary Kelley Morrow; son, DeWayne Morrow (Debbie); grandson, Johnathan Morrow (Julie); granddaughter, Crystal Sherk (Chad); great grandsons, Cooper Sherk, and Tyler Sherk; sisters, Jean McDonald and Betty Morrow; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins he loved dearly.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at North Cleveland Baptist Church with Dr. Jay McCluskey officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Alan Colloms, Terry Lynn Morrow, Chad Sherk, Eddie Davis, Mike Baines, and Barry Moore serving as pallbearers. The Men’s Adult I Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The service will conclude with the playing of Bagpipes and a White Dove release ceremony.
His family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
