Melanie Markiewicz

Melanie (“Meme”) Markiewicz, passed away peacefully at home in Cleveland, TN, on Thursday, May 25, 2023, after a two year battle with cancer. Melanie was born in Chicago, IL, on April 3, 1963, the youngest of three daughters. Her family moved to West Tennessee when she was six. Following graduation from Saint Joseph School of Nursing, she moved to Louisville, KY, starting in the newborn nursery and then finding her passion as a psychiatric nurse at Ten Broeck. After moving to Cleveland in 1999, Melanie worked as the Director of Pine Ridge Hospital and was most recently the patient care coordinator for TennCare at BlueCare Tennessee in Chattanooga where she was awarded the inaugural “Melanie Markiewicz Patient Advocate Award.” Melanie loved her husband, children, sisters, friends, coworkers, birdwatching, gardening, and finding trail trees. Melanie is survived by her husband, William Markiewicz, daughter, Meredith Markiewicz, sisters Tammy McCleaf and Joan Hodges, and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, Margie (Watkins) and Jack Crawford preceded her in death. Her nephew, Matthew Taylor, is presiding at the graveside service in Palmersville, TN, on May 31, 2023 at 2:00 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Cleveland, TN, on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 3:00pm.
