Tamala “Tammy” Hicks Bowers-Scarbrough, 52, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, August 26, 2022 at Bradley Healthcare. Tammy, as we often called her, attended Michigan Avenue Elementary and Trewhitt School.  She had an outgoing personality and a green thumb for rose planting. Tammy was of the Church of God faith.  She loved the song “Winner Either Way” sung by her cousin, the Reverend David Rose. Tammy especially loved her nephew, David Douglas who provided wonderful care to her during the latter end of her life.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents the Reverend Yules and Mary Simpson; paternal grandparents Joseph and Annie Hicks; father Roy Hicks; brother Randall Hicks; and uncle the Reverend Grady Simpson.

Left behind to cherish her memory includes her loving mother Emma Jo Simpson Hicks of Cleveland; sisters Stephanie (Paul) Hyde and Sonya Hicks all of Cleveland; daughter Heather (J.J.) Beck; grandchildren, whom she cherished greatly, Autumn Rutledge, Isabella Rutledge, and Lilyana Beck all of Cleveland; nieces Ashley Dunn and Summer Dunn; nephews David Douglas Groomes, Dakota (Cassie) Hyde, Baylor Hyde, and Braylin Hyde all of Cleveland; beloved aunt Frances Flowers.

A private graveside service will be held in Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Jeannie Cissom and the Reverend David Rose officiating. Robert Groomes, Donnie Rose, Jonathon Rose, Doug Simpson, Dakota Hyde, and David Douglas Groomes will serve as pallbearers.
